I was invited to return "home" to Holy Cross (where I served as youth minister for 5 years) to photograph 5 children as they received their First Holy Communion. This was different, because their formation was through the Maria Montessori method, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. They all wore robes...symbolic of their fresh clean soul, after just receiving Reconciliation and renewing their Baptism promises. White like the Light of Christ. Holy.
Such intense praying with Mom's rose-rosary. Oh my heart.
And a joyful celebration! Fr. spoke about Moms. Mom's want the best for their kids like Mary wanted the best for Jesus. And dads too, of course. Look at this fun Mom and Dad! Their sweet son was trying to be cool, but you know he loved that smooch Sammich.
And how about this sweet girl? A little nervous. But so precious. Her glittery nails!!
A little release after all those nerves.
Another Mommy and Daddy Sammich.
Social Distance Ceremony, of course. Masks? You bet. Check out sweet S's mask!! I LOVED it.
My heart smiles coming home. And it smiles about these sweet children. Thank you Holy Cross for the invitation and for trusting me with your memories. You will always hold a special place in my heart!
